Woohoo! Go Dr Kim and President Obama.  A continued reliance on growth alone is impossible due to diminishing energy and non renewable commodities, plus out of control debt and pollution, not to mention an increasing gap between rich and poor.  A new model is desperately needed and Dr Kim might just be the beginning.  That if he is not assassinated by the fat cats.

Not only do Senegalese mothers, tested at post natal clinics have only a tenth of the amount of HIV infection, 3,000 per 100,000  (3%) instead of 30,000 per 100,000 (30%) as compared to neighboring countries, their life expectancy and health outcomes are also significantly better. Now why would that be?

Xrays and Thyroid Cancer

  On Wednesday, Dr. Oz had a show on the fastest growing cancer in women,
  thyroid cancer. It was a very interesting program and he mentioned that
  the increase could possibly be related to the use of dental x-rays and
  mammograms. He demonstrated that on the apron the dentist puts on you for
  your dental x-rays there is a little flap that can be lifted up and wrapped
  around your neck. Many dentists don't bother to use it. Also, there is
  something called a "thyroid guard" for use during mammograms.

  By coincidence, I had my yearly mammogram yesterday. I felt a little
  silly, but I asked about the guard and sure enough, the technician had one
  in a drawer. I asked why it wasn't routinely used. Answer: "I don't know.
  You have to ask for it." Well, if I hadn't seen the show, how would I have
  known to ask?

  We need to pass this on to our daughters, nieces, mothers and all our
  female friends and husbands tell your wives !! I just did, now you send
  it on to your list.

First I must digress slightly..

Recently I read a detailed account of the circumstances leading up to 9/11 and of the attempts that even today, try to distort recorded events. As well as the book; “The Terror Conspiracy: Deception, and the Loss of Liberty” by Jim Marrs, I viewed the DVD “9/11: Blueprint for Truth” by The Architects and Engineers.  While the DVD is good, the book is much more detailed and with the DVD offers way too many pieces of corroborated information to suggest this was just another conspiracy. 

While the above was an enlightening experience, it turned out to be not so important at all.  What this blog is about is another thing altogether.  Something made me purchase a (Kindle) book that most reviewers describe as the “Most important book that they have ever read!”  and I would be one of them.   It is called:

Web of Debt: The Shocking Truth About Our Money System and How We Can Break Free. by Dr Ellen Brown.  You can find out more about it here.

This is an even more detailed and yet very readable description of how a few avarice infected men (families) have raped nations, especially the poorer nations and especially the poorer people of those nations, using money they do not own and are able to generate almost at will, including what are weapons of mass destruction “derivatives, short sells and even naked short sells” fired through the gaping barrels of hedge funds.  It is done to manipulate currencies causing massive hyper inflationary events, currency crashes and consequent levels of indebtedness (this is where these barstards profit).   Any country that attempts to get out from under this destructive multi headed dragon gets slapped around by the misguided power of the IMF, who insist on punitive measures that make working people jobless and homeless, and the very rich, much richer.  These banking people have instigated wars, starved millions, put billions of people into unnecessary poverty all to make some more money and from that gain more power so that they can do the same to even more people. 

It would not be believable except for the fact as Ellen Brown presents the expert opinion of over 500 researching experts, commentators and historians. Her facts just ring true!  Talk about “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”!

Banking Sanity

This has to be the beginning of sanity in a world where avarice has become almost a religion, or at least a way of life..

Makes my day..  Why did it take so long?  When will America follow suit?   Wasn't the USA where the "Greed was Good" mantra started?  Don't hold your breath..

Wall Street Protests

While thousands participate in the Wall Street 'style' unrest, few seem to offer a plan of action.  Can I suggest a few steps:
Pull the taxpayer support on all but one bank per country, where taxpayers personal savings  will be guaranteed.
Remove all taxpayer subsidies on fossil fuel and nuclear energy companies.
Outlaw any lobbyist connections with politicians.
Limit political donations to no more than 5 average wages.
Publish public servant average wages and if necessary reduce them over 3 years to average wages in the private sector.
One could go on and on, but like all great achievements they are made, one step at a time

1.6 Billion Suffer a Lack of Iodine

In 1999, global health experts announced that iodine deficiency continues to be a serious threat to global health. Insufficient iodine is, in fact, considered is the most common -- yet also most preventable -- cause of brain damage throughout the world, with 1.6 billion people at risk.  Imagine what how many are affected today!

In spite of this, iodised salt is only an option in most supermarkets and is generally not used in manufactured food!  Why? Because it is an unnecessary or wanted cost.
